Lonely and elderly people are most often victims of scammers on dating sites, Irina Volk, an official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, told TASS.
According to Volk, criminals exploit the emotional vulnerability of these categories of citizens. Trusting and easily manipulated people are also at risk.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs urged Russians to be careful when communicating on the Internet and not to transfer money to strangers.
If fraud is detected, the agency recommends contacting law enforcement agencies immediately.
