Face and voice are becoming a thing of the past: what will be the next stage in the development of biometric systems

Experts are confident that the future lies in behavioral biometrics, not cameras

The President of "T-Technologies", Stanislav Bliznyuk, proposed options for the development of biometric systems in Russia based on human behavior.

Today, the law is structured in such a way that a decent person submits biometrics by consent, while a fraudster does not. As a result, they can change images, names, voices, and the system does not have the right to record this. It turns out to be a legal bias: the good guys are under control, and the bad guys are out of sight.

According to Bliznyuk, behavioral biometrics will be the next stage in the development of biometric systems. The method is based on the analysis of individual patterns of human behavior in time, space, and actions.

Static data — face, voice — is already a thing of the past. Behavioral biometrics, when the system tracks how a person acts in typical scenarios, is much more accurate in showing what is really happening.

The head of "T-Technologies" emphasized that it is possible to determine by voice that a person is in a state of excitement or under pressure.

Formally, the client is identified, but the transaction is not made of their own free will. In such cases, we refuse, and later the clients thank us — they admit that they really acted under duress.

Bliznyuk is also confident that commercial biometric systems, possessing high technological capabilities, should play a key role in the development of the direction, becoming the basis of a unified biometric system of the country in the future, thereby consolidating the industry standard.

Such synergy — when the market creates and tests innovations, and the regulator then scales the best solutions — is the golden model of interaction.
