Visa and Mastercard security card certificates have become invalid. The CEO of the National Payment Card System (NSPK) stated that it is necessary to limit their use. According to him, it concerns cards with expired certificates.
This is specifically about expired cards. It's not about limiting the validity period of cards, but about returning to the model where cards had an expiration date.
It is noted that bank card chips may have a different expiration date compared to the card itself. Banks usually purchase them for different periods — three or five years. Payment systems extend this period, but at the end of 2024, after Visa and Mastercard left Russia, the certificates expired for the first time.
