Russian government includes Renault in sanctions list

The French automaker Renault has been included in the updated list of legal entities in respect of which special economic measures are applied in the Russian Federation. In other words, Renault has fallen under Russian sanctions. The corresponding decree was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

We are talking about Renault SAS (it is part of the Renault auto concern), which is in the sanctions list under number 75. It operates in the field of military-technical cooperation. The Russian government believes that Renault SAS produces drones. Restrictive measures mean that Russian companies cannot carry out foreign economic contracts, make payments, and carry out transactions with securities.

Earlier, Rospatent refused Renault to register a trademark in Russia. First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov previously stated that he doubts that the company will return to the Russian Federation. He explained that the automaker's activities are characterized by Renault's unfriendly actions towards Russia.

Recall that Renault left Russia in 2022, the automaker has the opportunity to return to the Russian Federation within six years. However, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin expressed the opinion that it is unlikely that this company in Russia "will get anything."
