It has become known that a new modification of the Geran-2 kamikaze drone has appeared in the Russian army. The drones are now equipped with a fragmentation warhead with an air detonation function, which will expand its combat capabilities.
The drone is equipped with a LiDAR laser rangefinder, which enables detonation at a specified altitude.
Presumably, the mass of the new warhead with a plastisol charge is 50 kilograms.
This improvement significantly expands the tactical capabilities of the drone. This is especially effective against concentrations of manpower, unarmored vehicles, and vulnerable objects, such as those in trenches or behind light cover.
Air detonation allows for a significant increase in the radius of damage from fragments, which increases the likelihood of damaging the target.
