Su-27SM interceptor fighters began to be equipped with R-27ER air-to-air missiles with an increased range of up to 110 km

The introduction of modernized ammunition will allow hitting the enemy before entering the affected area

Su-27SM fighters now carry R-27ER air-to-air missiles. The ammunition has an increased effective range of up to 100 km with an launch echelon of about 10 km. The combat aircraft are designed to intercept, escort and withdraw NATO aviation from the Russian borders over the Black and Baltic Seas.

R-27ER missiles provide Russian fighters with a significant advantage in air combat, allowing them to hit targets before the enemy enters the range of their own missiles. This is of particular importance in modern conflicts, where the speed and range of detection and engagement play a key role.

The N001VE airborne radars on the Su-27SM/3 use a Cassegrain antenna array, which limits their noise immunity and the ability to simultaneously track targets, the detection range of Mirage-2000D fighters with an RCS of 3 to 3.5 sq. m, accompanying, for example, an American KC-135R aerial tanker, can be up to 140 km.

When using electronic warfare (EW) systems by Mirage-200D fighters, Su-27SM pilots will be able to use R-27ER missiles at a distance of 70-80 km.

Obviously, for potential collisions with Rafale F4.1 and JAS-39C, armed with Meteor missiles, the use of Su-35S and Su-30SM/2 with R-77-1 and R-37M missiles will be required.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Su-34NVO generation "4+" fighter-bombers began to be equipped with modernized UMPC-PD.
