RIA Novosti reported on a new fraud scheme, citing materials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. According to law enforcement officials, attackers send a message to the tenant, allegedly on behalf of the landlord, asking them to pay for accommodation.
Communicating through popular messengers, fraudsters ask to transfer money using new details. After the tenant transfers the funds, the fake landlords stop communicating.
Thus, a new method of fraud has already shown "results" in one of the regions - a woman renting a home was affected by such actions of fraudsters.
Having received a message allegedly from the owner of the apartment, she transferred more than 30 thousand rubles to the fraudsters.
