RIA Novosti reported on a new fraud scheme, referring to materials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. According to law enforcement officials, attackers send a message to the tenant supposedly on behalf of the landlord with a request to pay for accommodation.
Communicating through popular messengers, fraudsters ask to transfer money using new details. After the tenant has transferred the funds, the fake landlords stop communicating.
Thus, the new method of fraud has already shown "results" in one of the regions — from these actions of fraudsters, a woman renting a home suffered.
Having received a message allegedly from the owner of the apartment, she transferred more than 30 thousand rubles to the fraudsters.
