The schemes used by fraudsters to deceive the population are becoming more complex. Now, to steal money from Russians, they are introducing fraudulent schemes using mobile applications for contactless payments, which allow attackers to obtain bank card data when a smartphone comes into contact with a reader. This was reported in the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Fraudsters ask the victim to download a mobile application for contactless payments, for example, NFC Gate, under the pretext of reinstalling a banking application.
This application activates the NFC sensor, through which card data is transmitted to the fraudster when the smartphone is attached to the reader.
To protect their savings, citizens should not download unknown applications, especially from suspicious sites.
