The Arbitration Court of the Irkutsk Region has suspended consideration of Russian Railways' claim against Angara Airlines for more than 430 million rubles. This is stated in the court documents.
The court accepted the claim for proceedings in July 2025. As part of this case, the transport railway company intended to recover damages from the air carrier for damage to the Mi-8 helicopter under the agreement of February 3, 2022.
The helicopter was en route from Irkutsk to the village of Nyuchakan, and on the way back, the aircraft was supposed to land at the UKPG-2 site. But during the descent, the Mi-8 fell into a "vortex ring", hit the tops of trees and fell into the taiga.
The International Aviation Committee cited violations in interaction and shortcomings in the crew's navigation training as the cause of the disaster.
At the end of August 2025, Russian Railways also filed a motion to seize Angara's accounts, but the court left it without progress. The plaintiff was invited to "eliminate the circumstances that served as the basis for leaving the application without progress" until September 29, 2025.
Russian Railways asked to approve a ban for the airline to use current and non-current assets (with the exception of payments for utilities, rent, taxes and employee salaries). The plaintiff also proposed to prohibit the defendant from registering real estate objects until the actual execution of the judicial act.
Russian Railways may appeal this decision in the Fourth Court of Appeal.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that the Ministry of Defensefiled 10 lawsuits against Russian Railways for 105 million rubles.
