"Rosmorport" will re-select a shipyard for the construction of two railway ferries for the Kaliningrad region. This was reported by the press service of the federal institution.
The construction of the ferries was planned to be financed from the National Welfare Fund (NWF). The State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) acted as the customer. In 2024, "Rosmorport", GTLK and the "Zvezda" plant signed a tripartite agreement on financing the project and transferring the ferries to the federal institution.
However, the Russian government decided to develop a separate program (infrastructure project) for the construction of ships. The ferries were not included in the list of preferential leasing approved by the authorities. This led to the fact that the NWF funds were not brought to the customer. As a result, the 2024 agreement terminated.
A new contract has not been concluded at present. Thus, there are no grounds for bringing funds to SSK "Zvezda".
A new procedure for selecting a shipyard will be carried out after the approval of the infrastructure project.
The construction of two ferries for Kaliningrad was planned to begin in 2024, and their cost was estimated at 30 billion rubles. The vessels were to be transferred to "Rosmorport" in 2028.
The new ferries will be built on the basis of the projects "Marshal Rokossovsky" and "General Chernyakhovsky" with "the maximum possible saturation of their domestic equipment." The length of the vessels will be almost 200 meters, the width - 27 meters. They will be able to move at a speed of up to 16.5 knots on clean water and will be designed for 24 crew members and 12 passengers.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that the largest shipbuilding plant "Krasnoye Sormovo" and "Severnaya Verf"are being modernized.
