At the session "Prospects for the development of passenger water transport and cruise shipping" within the framework of the XVIII International Exhibition and Conference "NEVA", a sketch of a new cruise ship of the "Volga-Don Max" class was presented. The project, developed by specialists of the USC "Vympel" design bureau, was named "Sirius".
The new cruise liner is designed for sailing on the rivers and canals of the Volga basin, including the Volga-Baltic and Volga-Don waterways. In addition, it will be able to make seasonal voyages to the Gulf of Finland, the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, meeting the requirements of class M-PR 3.0 of the Russian Classification Society.
The ship is focused on family holidays. Passengers in the number of 279 people will be accommodated in 126 cabins, 85% of which will have personal balconies or verandas. There are 1-4-bed cabins, 2 cabins for accommodating passengers with limited mobility, as well as four "luxury" cabins.
The architecture of the new project is distinguished by an unconventional approach: the wheelhouse is integrated under passenger and public spaces. Thanks to this, suites with panoramic windows appeared in the bow above the wheelhouse, and above them - an open veranda of the bar, accessible to all passengers.
