VEB.RF Buys "Angstrem-T" Assets for 1 Ruble

The strategic microelectronics enterprise "Angstrem" was freed from debts of €1.2 billion incurred by "Angstrem-T". The state corporation VEB.RF bought the debtor's assets for just 1 ruble as debt compensation.

The court ruled to terminate the guarantee agreement of "Angstrem," which burdened the company with a debt of €1.2 billion.

According to sources, this refers to a guarantee agreement dated January 16, 2012 — "Angstrem" acted as guarantor between "Angstrem-T" and VEB.RF.

The parties entered into a credit agreement in April 2008 — VEB provided the enterprise with a credit line of €815,000 to create a production of submicron semiconductor components with topological norms of 0.11-0.13 μm in the city of.

However, the plant was never built, "Angstrem-T" went bankrupt, and the debt on the loan, which reached €1.3 billion (€815 million of loan debt, €467.5 million of interest, and €25.7 million of penalties), was transferred to "Angstrem."

The "Angstrem" website states that the company is Russia's leading full-cycle enterprise for the production of microchips and power semiconductor devices.

Earlier, the general director of JSC "Supertel," Konstantin Lukin, stated that over the past three years, practically nothing has been done in Russia in the field of import substitution of electronic components for telecommunications equipment.
