The newest multi-purpose nuclear submarine (APL) "Arkhangelsk" of project 885M "Yasen-M" of the Northern Fleet fired an Onyx cruise missile at a mock enemy in the Barents Sea.
The practical firing was carried out at a target located at a distance of about 200 km. The missile hit a sea target with a direct hit.
The area where the missile firing was conducted was closed in advance to civilian navigation and aviation flights. It was clarified that the closure of the area was ensured by ships of the Kola Flotilla of mixed forces.
The commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov, noted that during the preparation and conduct of the firing, the crew showed professionalism and naval training.
The Arkhangelsk nuclear submarine cruiser was laid down in 2015 and launched in November 2023. In December 2024, the submarine was accepted into the Russian Navy. The main strike weapon of the 885M project submarines is the Onyx and Kalibr-PL cruise missiles.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the revolutionary drone "Klyuch" was developed in Russia.
