Russia and Belarus continue to work on forming a unified transport system, the Russian Ministry of Transport reported following a meeting between Minister Andrey Nikitin and State Secretary of the Union State Sergey Glazyev in Moscow.
The parties reaffirmed their readiness for further cooperation on the integration of transport infrastructure within the Union State. Regular meetings of the Coordination Commission will continue to coordinate projects and monitor their implementation.
Particular attention was paid to the development of suburban railway communication between neighboring regions. The focus is on the Smolensk - Orsha and Smolensk - Vitebsk routes, which should strengthen the integration of the transport systems of Russia and Belarus.
In addition, the development of international air transportation between the two countries was discussed.
