Активность Солнца стабилизируется: геомагнитные бури закончатся до конца четверга

Experts predict calm solar activity in the coming days

The Earth will completely exit the zone of influence of a large coronal hole on the Sun by the end of Thursday, and the coming days will be characterized by calm solar activity, according to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Institute for Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The magnetic storm that began last Monday and was recognized as the strongest in three months was caused by a stream of disturbed plasma from a coronal hole. According to scientists, the speed of interplanetary gas has decreased by now, and the temperature and density have returned to average values.

«After the first impact on September 15, when geomagnetic storms of up to G3 level were observed, the magnetic field stabilized. From September 16 to 18, no new events were recorded. Today, there is only a slight chance of weak disturbances, and from tomorrow all risks will be completely removed,» the experts note.

Solar activity as a whole remains moderate. Plasma ejections occur, but their power is extremely low, and they spread past the Earth. This means that in the coming days, flares on the Sun will not pose a danger to the planet.

Why this is important. A calm geomagnetic environment reduces the risks for satellite systems, power grids, radio communications, and navigation devices, and also minimizes the likelihood of solar storms affecting people's health, especially those who are prone to cardiovascular stress.
