The cruise ship "Vladimir Zhirinovsky" (formerly "Peter the Great") of the PV300VD project will be completed at the Baltic Shipyard USC. This information was confirmed by several sources in the industry. The ship is scheduled to be transferred from Astrakhan to St. Petersburg in October this year.
On August 15, 2016, at the Astrakhan shipyard "Lotos", which is part of the Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center, a solemn ceremony was held to lay the bottom section of a new PV300VD project cruise passenger ship. The construction was launched by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who joined the event via video link.
The hull of the ship was launched on May 24, 2019. Subsequently, the dates for the transfer of the ship to the customer were repeatedly postponed due to decisions to replace equipment.
The ship is designed for 300 passengers and, according to the requirements of the customer - the Moscow River Shipping Company - it should be able to sail not only on the Volga, Black, Azov and Caspian Seas, but also on the Red and Mediterranean Seas. The ship is capable of withstanding waves up to 3.5 meters high.
The liner is designed within the concept of a "five-star hotel on the water". On board there are bars (including a grill area), restaurants, a spa, swimming pools, jacuzzis, a fitness center, children's playrooms and a theater and music hall that can accommodate up to 250 guests. Two passenger elevators are installed in the bow and stern of the ship. The dimensions of the ship are 141.14 meters in length and 16.84 meters in width, with a draft of 3.2 meters. The maximum operating speed of the ship reaches 22.5 km/h.
