St. Petersburg will receive the first treasury investment loan for the development of a special economic zone (SEZ), which will allow the creation of a research and development center (R&D center) in the automotive industry.
The new center will be located in the Shushary SEZ on an area of 18 thousand square meters. Engineering surveys have already begun, and the facility is scheduled to be commissioned in 2027. The center will become part of the St. Petersburg automotive cluster and will be technologically integrated with the St. Petersburg automobile plant, where a high localization of domestic car assembly is carried out.
The project involves the development of innovative technologies and their subsequent transfer to production. The center will conduct research on new materials, components and systems for cars, as well as test prototypes and engineering solutions, which are then implemented at the plant. This approach will ensure an accelerated "science - production" cycle and increase the technological independence of the industry.
The city will attract 3.1 billion rubles of federal funds for the development of the infrastructure of the St. Petersburg SEZ. The project will create more than 2.2 thousand jobs, and the amount of budget deductions in 15 years may exceed 14 billion rubles.
