The crew of the Project 885M Yasen-M submarine spent almost three months at sea

The Krasnoyarsk nuclear-powered missile submarine (Project 885M Yasen-M) has arrived at its base in Kamchatka. The submarine traveled more than 10,000 nautical miles, according to the press service of the Pacific Fleet.

The sailors were solemnly greeted on the shore. According to the press service, the crew of the Krasnoyarsk spent about 3 months at sea.

The submarine commander reported to the commander of the Pacific Fleet Submarine Forces, Valery Varfolomeev, that the assigned tasks had been successfully completed. Distinguished servicemen were also awarded at the event.

Construction of the 4th generation SSGN began in 2014. In December 2023, the St. Andrew's flag was raised on board. Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the ceremony in Severodvinsk.

Characteristics of the Yasen-M project submarines:

  • Length — 130 m
  • Width — 13 m
  • Displacement — about 8600 tons (surface), about 13,800 tons (submerged)
  • Speed — up to 31 knots (submerged), 16-20 knots (surface)
  • Maximum immersion depth — up to 600 m
  • Autonomy — about 100 days
  • Crew: up to 90 people

The 885M Yasen-M submarines are considered the most powerful and modern in the Russian Navy. In the coming years, Russian shipbuilders will build more submarines of this project.
