Siberian Federal University (SFU) has developed new sound insulation panels capable of reducing noise levels by 7–10%.
They consist of three layers: the outer layers are made of solid OSB boards, and the middle layer is perforated, while the voids are not filled with mineral wool or polymers, which distinguishes them from traditional solutions.
According to the developer, Timofey Zaitsev, the panels are also highly environmentally friendly and easy to dispose of.
The scientists plan to obtain a patent for the invention and are considering the possibility of using the panels in residential buildings, offices, public and cultural spaces.
The new panels allow creating a more comfortable acoustic environment without harmful materials and complex disposal, which makes them promising for modern construction.
