A camouflaged prototype of a new Moskvich model was spotted at the Moscow automobile factory. According to the declaration of conformity and published photos, it may be the M70 crossover, created on the basis of the Chinese MG HS from the SAIC concern. This is reported by "Rambler Auto".
The prototype does not outwardly match any of the four current production models of Moskvich, produced on the basis of JAC, which confirms the plant's plans to expand the lineup.
The dimensions of the MG HS model, on the basis of which the M70 was created, are 4,655 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,690 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm, the trunk volume is 507 liters. The basic version of the crossover is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 172 hp with a seven-speed robotic gearbox, and a more powerful version with a 2.0-liter engine with 231 hp with a 9-speed "automatic".
The prototype photos show elements that are not present in the MG HS: large parts on the hood and roof, as well as some differences in the optics and design of the front bumper.
The new model may strengthen Moskvich's position in the mid-size SUV segment. The newest model of the brand remains the Moskvich 8, the sales of which in the "Business" configuration start from 2,980,000 rubles.
