Vietnam has unveiled a new self-propelled artillery unit (SPG) PTH-152. The new product was assembled on the basis of KamAZ 6550 and the Soviet D-20 howitzer manufactured in 1953.
The 152-mm D-20 gun-howitzer is a 152-mm towed gun-howitzer with manual loading. It first became known in the West in 1955, and in the NATO bloc countries it was designated M1955.
The barrel length of the gun is 34 calibers, the barrel bore length is 4240 mm, and the rifling length is 3467 mm. The firing range with high-explosive fragmentation projectiles is up to 17.4 km.
The D-20 can also use chemical, incendiary, Krasnopol-D guided and 3VB3 nuclear projectiles.
The KamAZ 6550 is a Russian heavy off-road vehicle with an 8x8 wheel arrangement. It is designed for mounting specialized equipment. It is used on highways that are designed for an axial load level of no more than 100 kN.
