The main fleet of aircraft for regional and local transportation consists of Soviet An-24, An-2 and some Il models. The new LMS-901 "Baikal" and "Ladoga" aircraft will not be able to reverse the situation with the aircraft fleet, according to Pavel Gerasimov, a former expert at the International Civil Aviation Organization.
According to him, they exceed the cost of foreign counterparts by almost 10 times, which makes them economically unprofitable.
I do not think that "Baikal", "Ladoga" and other aircraft that are being developed in Russia will somehow reverse this situation. Even the acquisition of one aircraft, not to mention its maintenance, will cost a colossal amount of money, due to small-scale production.
Leonid Luzgin, General Director of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant, noted that the cost of the light multipurpose aircraft LMS-901 "Baikal" will range from 220 to 340 million rubles. Meanwhile, UZGAhas already built the fourth "Baikal" aircraft before mass production.
