Magnetic storms on Earth on August 19, 2025, are expected to be moderate and may last one or two days. This was reported by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Scientists noted that the flare activity of the Sun remains low, although there are signs of growth. The forecast for moderate storm power and their duration of 1–2 days remains. There is a gradual increase in the speed of the solar wind and other parameters of the interplanetary environment due to the impact of the coronal hole.
The geomagnetic activity index is currently in a quiet zone, but during the day it may rise to the yellow and red zones. The predicted disturbances and storms are associated with the acceleration of the solar wind. Despite the increase in activity, no phenomena dangerous to the Earth have been recorded.
According to the laboratory, flare activity on the Sun is only beginning to manifest itself, but there are no pronounced trends yet, and there is no impact on the planet.
