The first example of the effective use of naval SAM systems was the "July Storm" exercise, which took place from July 23 to 27 under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseev.

The firing was carried out using a naval modification of the Tor-M2KM complex. As a target, the military used the Uran missile, launched from the corvette Stoiky at near-sound speed at extremely low altitudes of 10-15 meters under the control of an inertial control system.

Tor-M2KM is a new modification of Tor-M2 in a modular design, which is characterized by the absence of a chassis.

Characteristics of Tor-M2KM:

  • Area of destruction in range - from 1 to 15 km
  • SAM flight speed - 700/800 m/s
  • Max. speed of targets hit - 700 m/s
  • Number of simultaneously fired targets - 4
  • Guidance system - jam-resistant radio command
  • Number of target channels - 4 channels
