The Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant named after E. S. Yalamov (UOMZ) has fully switched to the production of LED traffic lights. Modern models are more energy-efficient and can be integrated into a "smart city" system.
The plant began producing its first traffic lights in the 1990s. In 1998, it created the DS-1, the first Russian-made LED traffic light. Its installation on the streets of Yekaterinburg helped reduce accidents by 30%.
Today, the company produces only LED models. The latest development, the DS-10 line, is designed for 100,000 hours of operation (more than 20 years). The devices support remote control, automatic brightness adjustment, and can display additional information, including road signs and speed data.
The new traffic lights are also compatible with environmental monitoring sensors and weather sensors. In the future, they are planned to be used to analyze the traffic situation in real time.
