A team of engineers from Moscow wants to expand the capabilities of the "Boomerang" fiber optic FPV drones. The devices will receive the option of combined control via fiber optic cable and using a remote control, a source in the Russian defense industry complex (DIC) said.
It is necessary that the methods of controlling the drone are interchangeable, combined.
Depending on the situation and tasks, Boomerang FPV drones will be able to operate both on fiber optics and on radio antenna control, the source explained.
According to him, there are now several ways to destroy fiber optic drones. This is damage to the cable with small arms or mechanically.
As a reminder, the Boomerang line of drones is highly effective. The fiber optic version of unmanned aerial vehicles began to be used by the Russian Armed Forces in March 2025.
