Russian SIM chips developed by JSC GLONASS solve a key problem — they guarantee stable communication without the risk of disconnection from foreign suppliers. This was announced on Sputnik radio by Maxim Gorshenin, a popularizer and expert in electronics.
Until now, Russia has used foreign SIM chips, which created risks for critical infrastructure. The new chips are integrated into the ERA-GLONASS system, which automatically notifies emergency services in the event of an accident. Now the connection will work without failures, as the chips are produced domestically.
Russian SIM chips mean independence from foreign supplies, because before that we used exclusively foreign devices. Secondly, there is the ERA-GLONASS state information system in the car, the signal from which is transmitted on the territory of the Russian Federation so that in the event of an accident or some emergency, you can contact the operator. We will have a domestic chip, reliable, trusted. We know for sure that he will call, and will not be disconnected at the request of a foreign vendor. The most important factor is that in order to identify a Russian car, you need to score a certain number of points using Russian components. A Russian chip is another significant item in the piggy bank of these points in order to recognize a car as domestic.
Gorshenin also emphasized that the development is important not only for cars. Chips can be used in drones, industrial IoT devices, and remote monitoring systems. For example, they will help transmit data from oil pipelines without laying wires.
Another advantage is compliance with localization requirements. The chip adds points for recognizing a car as Russian, which is important for manufacturers.
