GLONASS Launches Production of Domestic SIM Chips for Transport

Russian navigation systems will receive built-in chips for control and data transmission

The company GLONASS has developed the first domestic SIM chip for transport monitoring. The device was registered in the register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on June 4. The chip is integrated into the equipment instead of a SIM card and provides identification in communication networks.

The main tasks of the chip are to control the movement of transport, identify drones, and transmit SOS signals. It will be used in emergency call systems, navigation equipment, and trackers. Alexey Raikevich, General Director of GLONASS, clarified that the chips are already being tested with manufacturers of navigation equipment.

More than 500,000 chips have been produced since June. Their production is handled by the company Plastim. New devices with domestic chips will appear on various types of transport, including aviation drones.
