At Yelizovo Airport in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, elements of the finish in the air harbor terminal were destroyed as a result of a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 8.8 on Wednesday, July 30. The Governor of the Kamchatka Territory, Vladimir Solodov, instructed to investigate this situation.
The current work on securing finishing materials is unsatisfactory. I instructed to conduct an examination, develop a set of measures to eliminate the shortcomings, and monitor the creation of a training program for employees, as well as conduct exercises in case of natural disasters.
The head of the region specified that the earthquake was the strongest in the entire period of observations in Kamchatka, the magnitude was 8.8. According to Solodov, regular prolonged aftershocks are expected.
The earthquake did not affect Aeroflot's flights to Kamchatka and Sakhalin, the airline said.
