"Rosseti" is building a new power line for the Vostochny Cosmodrome: how this will increase the reliability of power supply

The new power transmission line will provide uninterrupted power supply for rocket launches from the Vostochny Cosmodrome

Construction of a 60-kilometer cable-air power line has started in the Amur Region. The project is being implemented by the branch of PJSC "Rosseti" - MES Vostoka. The line will connect the cosmodrome to two substations (220 kV and 500 kV), which will reduce the risk of outages.

Energy workers will install over 200 supports, lay 180 km of wires and 60 km of lightning protection cable with optical cable. The route passes through the habitat of the Far Eastern stork. To protect the birds, anti-perching devices will be installed on the supports. This will also prevent accidents caused by their activity.

The Vostochny Cosmodrome is a key site for launching Soyuz-2 and Angara rockets. Its feature is a mobile service tower 52 meters high, which operates in all weather conditions. The city of Tsiolkovsky, where the complex's employees live, is located nearby.
