Public transport will be updated in Russia: the government has instructed to allocate additional funds

Funding is planned to be directed within the framework of the federal project

The Russian government has instructed the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport to provide for additional funds in the federal budget for 2026–2028 to update public transport.

The funding is planned to be directed within the framework of the relevant federal project, as well as measures for the development of the railway infrastructure of the Central Transport Hub.

A report on the results should be submitted by September 1, 2025.

In addition, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed the Ministry of Transport to update Russia's transport strategy until 2030 with a forecast until 2035 by December 2026. The updated version will focus on unmanned technologies, the development of new regions, inland waterways and the digitalization of logistics.
