The frigate Tamal of project 11356, built by shipbuilders of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) for the Navy of India, arrived in the port of St. Petersburg on a friendly visit, the Russian Ministry of Defense reports.
The department clarified that the visit of the foreign ship is taking place within the framework of the military cooperation program. Crews of Indian and Russian ships will hold a number of joint events, including cultural programs.
Tamal is able to withstand any threats at sea. The ship is equipped with a reliable air defense system, the basis of which is the Shtil-1 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) with vertical launch missiles developed and manufactured by the Almaz-Antey Air Defense Concern. BrahMos missiles are responsible for the ship's strike power.
