AvtoVAZ has begun road tests of a new van that will be launched under the SKM brand. Photos of the car have appeared online. The pictures show the car captured at the entrance to the factory in Togliatti. The license plates confirm that this is a test model of AvtoVAZ.
The van is externally identical to the Chinese SRM model, which likely became the basis for SKM. All logos on the body are hidden, indicating preparations for an official announcement. It was previously reported that the SKM line would include not only vans but also passenger minivans. The cars are expected to be adapted to Russian conditions, but no major changes are planned compared to the original.
It is not yet known whether AvtoVAZ will refine the platform. The main task is to quickly occupy the niche of light commercial vehicles, where there are currently few competitors. The new van can expand the model range and strengthen the company's position in the LCV segment.
