"KAMAZ" to Supply 400 Units of Special Equipment for the Moscow – St. Petersburg HSR Construction

The largest Russian automaker will provide the high-speed railway construction with modern equipment

KAMAZ has entered into a contract with Natsproektstroy to supply over 400 units of special equipment for the construction of the high-speed railway (HSR) between Moscow and St. Petersburg. The deal is worth over 3.7 billion rubles. The vehicle fleet will include 149 dump trucks, 50 concrete mixers, tractors, fuel tankers, watering and washing machines, and shift buses – all of which will be delivered to the customer by the end of 2025.

A special feature of the project will be the use of ballastless track laying technology, which has not been used in Russia on such a scale before. According to Alexey Krapivin, head of Natsproektstroy, a multi-layer reinforced concrete slab will be used instead of traditional reinforced concrete sleepers and ballast:

The structure consists of several layers of concrete: the top layer is made of high-strength factory-made slabs, the middle layer is made of non-shrink concrete, which has not yet been used in Russian transport construction, and the bottom layer is made of conventional concrete reinforced with steel reinforcement. This structure will be laid both on the roadbed and on bridges.

KAMAZ CEO Sergey Kogogin emphasized that the company has the necessary competencies and production capacities to participate in the project:

KAMAZ has the necessary competencies, many years of experience, and large production capabilities in the development and production of a wide range of vehicles. We are ready to supply the necessary special equipment and assist in the implementation of this important project for the country. I am confident that the consolidation of efforts of leading Russian companies will make it possible to achieve priority goals in the construction of the country's first high-speed railway Moscow – St. Petersburg in a short time.
Sergey Kogogin, CEO of KAMAZ

Construction of the HSR has already begun: more than 4,000 specialists are involved in the preparatory phase, and their number will increase to 40,000 in the main phase.
