Some have turned it into a business: they publish compromising material and demand payment for its removal.

Durov emphasized that such actions are illegal and immoral. The founder of the messenger urged users who have been threatened or extorted by scammers to report it immediately. He advised victims of fraud to send him a personal message in the Telegram channel and attach as much evidence as possible. According to Durov, specialists will remove the attackers from the platform to make Telegram a safe place for everyone.

Earlier it became known that a new fraudulent scheme related to the purchase of user nicknames has appeared in Telegram.
