The main disadvantage of the "Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky" ("KVN") drone with fiber optic control is the length of the coil, which directly affects the range, according to Alexey Chadaev, director of the scientific and production center (SPC) "Ushkuynik".
According to him, after the start of mass use of the devices, the targets moved back and the coil "no longer quite reaches."
The main disadvantage of the "Knyaz Vandal" is the length of the coil. Radio-controlled drones outperform ours in length — this is the difficulty now. Therefore, we are fighting to increase the range, but without losses in flight statistics. The second is communication and control. This is software — solutions of a more organizational nature, related not only to how to use the drone, but also to how to manage the people using it.
The operating range of the "Knyaz Vandal" is up to 23 km. Fiber optic cable is very fragile and breaks at the first bend, but the statistics of breaks do not exceed 1–2 cases per 10 launches.
