Automobile manufacturers such as AvtoVAZ, Gorky Automobile Plant, and PJSC KAMAZ have retrofitted more than 50,000 vehicles produced in 2022-2023 with ERA-GLONASS devices. This was made possible thanks to an initiative by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.
The ERA-GLONASS system allows drivers to quickly call emergency services in the event of an accident. The device can activate automatically, transmitting the vehicle's coordinates if the injured parties are unable to request assistance themselves.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak emphasized that the use of this system speeds up the response of rescue services, which significantly increases road safety.
The retrofitting of cars is carried out as part of a program agreed upon with Rosstandart, aimed at preventing harm associated with the use of vehicles.
General Director of JSC GLONASS, Alexey Raikevich, noted that the ERA-GLONASS system saves thousands of lives annually, and by 2030, it is planned to increase the number of connected cars from 13 to 20 million.
