Automobile manufacturers such as "AvtoVAZ", Gorky Automobile Plant, and PJSC "KamAZ" have retrofitted more than 50,000 cars produced in 2022-2023 with ERA-GLONASS devices. This was made possible thanks to an initiative by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.
The ERA-GLONASS system allows drivers to quickly call emergency services in the event of an accident. The device can activate automatically, transmitting the vehicle's coordinates if the victims are unable to request assistance themselves.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak emphasized that the use of this system speeds up the response of rescue services, which significantly improves road safety.
The retrofitting of cars is carried out within the framework of a program agreed with Rosstandart, aimed at preventing harm associated with the use of vehicles.
Alexey Raikevich, General Director of JSC "GLONASS", noted that the ERA-GLONASS system saves thousands of lives annually, and it is planned to increase the number of connected cars from 13 to 20 million by 2030.
