In the Moscow region, telephone scammers extorted 5 million rubles from a student, pretending to be employees of an educational institution and law enforcement agencies. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The girl was informed that grade books were being transferred to electronic format and asked to dictate the code from the SMS to confirm the operation.
After that, fictitious employees of Rosfinmonitoring and the police began to call, claiming that her account on "Gosuslugi" had been hacked and that one of her parents was allegedly involved in financing the Ukrainian military.
In order to avoid criminal liability, the student handed over a large sum from her father's safe to the fraudsters.
The police detained the courier who picked up the money; they found a phone with instructions from the fraudsters. The man confessed that he worked on instructions for a percentage. A criminal case has been initiated, and accomplices are being searched for.
