In the Samara Region, Authorities Created Free Wi-Fi Access Points Amid Threats of Mobile Communication Restrictions

The regional Ministry of Digital Development posted detailed information on its website about where to find them

Public Wi-Fi access points with free internet have started operating in the Samara Region. The decision was made in connection with possible restrictions on mobile communications. Restrictions may be introduced to ensure security – to protect against drones. This information was announced by the Chairman of the regional government, Mikhail Smirnov.

A map with the location of access points is posted on the website of the regional Ministry of Digital Development. Smirnov emphasized that these measures are aimed at minimizing inconvenience for residents of the region.

Mobile internet restrictions are being introduced in Russian regions due to the threat of drone attacks. As soon as the threat is eliminated, telecom operators restore full operation of mobile internet.

Previously, similar measures were taken in the Leningrad Region and the Krasnodar Territory, as well as in other regions, such as the Ivanovo, Oryol, and Voronezh Regions.
