The Ministry of Digital Affairs, together with businesses, is considering introducing uniform rules for the temporary shutdown of mobile internet. According to \"Izvestia,\" citing industry sources, the initiative aims to streamline the chaotic demands of regional authorities, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and law enforcement agencies, which have become more frequent recently due to threats involving drones.
Today, telecom operators receive many disparate instructions on restricting communication, including in situations where such measures are excessive. According to experts, standardizing the procedure will save users from unnecessary shutdowns and operators from unnecessary burden.
Karen Kazaryan, Director of the Internet Research Institute, advocated for the creation of a unified center that would send orders to operators and coordinate actions in crisis situations. He also proposed introducing a system for promptly notifying telecom companies.
Roskomnadzor stated that they are not familiar with the discussed initiatives. In turn, \"VimpelCom\" supported the idea of centralizing shutdown processes.
