According to the results of the first half of 2025, the Russian car market ranked 15th in the world ranking of car markets, despite a decrease in new car sales by 26%. This was announced by Sergey Tselikov, director of the analytical agency "Autostat".

China is in first place in the ranking of car markets. Sales of new cars there increased by 11.4%. In June, 2.1 million cars were sold in China, which is 14% more compared to May and 19% more than in June last year.

In the USA (second place), there is a slowdown in sales of new cars: although the first half of the year ended with a slight increase (+3.2%), June showed a decrease of 5.6%. Leading European markets also show negative dynamics: Germany (-5%), Italy (-3.5%), France (-7.9%).

The exception was Great Britain (seventh place), where sales increased by 3.5% in six months and by 6.7% in June. Spain (13th place) continues to show active growth (+13.9%).

In Russia, 530 thousand new passenger cars were sold in the first half of the year.  It was this decline that led to a fall from 12th to 15th place in the world ranking.
