Власти РФ усиливают контроль за криптовалютой для борьбы с коррупцией

Rosfinmonitoring and the Central Bank are implementing the "Transparent Blockchain" project

In Russia, the active fight against financial crimes related to the use of cryptocurrency continues. The head of Rosfinmonitoring, Yuri Chikhanchin, presented a report to the country's president, Vladimir Putin, on the work of the national anti-money laundering system.

One of the main areas of work is the "Transparent Blockchain" project, which is being developed jointly with VTB and the Central Bank. It aims to monitor cryptocurrency transactions in order to more effectively identify and prevent financial crimes.

Chikhanchin noted that there has been a recent increase in the use of cryptocurrency in corruption schemes. President Putin noted that such methods of payment are becoming increasingly popular among corrupt officials. In particular, foreign crypto exchanges and so-called "drop" cards are actively used for illegal activities. All this creates additional difficulties for law enforcement agencies.

To date, about 3 billion rubles have been recovered in more than 200 criminal cases, which indicates progress in the fight against financial crimes. Work in this direction continues, and the authorities intend to strengthen control over cryptocurrency transactions to prevent their use in corruption schemes.
