The likely rejection by India of purchasing American fifth-generation F-35 fighters in favor of Russian Su-57s is explained by Russia's reliability as a partner. This conclusion was reached by the Western publication Military Watch Magazine (MWM).
The material cites the words of the head of the Indian Ministry of Defense, Rajesh Kumar Singh, that the country is "negotiating with an unnamed partner about the acquisition of a new aircraft."
Retired Air Marshal Anil Chopra explained that "choosing a partner who will not exert excessive pressure is crucial" in determining with whom the Indian side will cooperate.
This completely ruled out the F-35, leaving the Su-57 as the only option for India.
The media reported that if the Su-57 is acquired, India may modernize the fighters by installing its own Virupaksha radars instead of the Russian N036 Belka.
Earlier www1.ru reported that ODK will sharply increase the production of aircraft engines.
