The likely rejection of American fifth-generation F-35 fighters by India in favor of Russian Su-57s is explained by Russia's reliability as a partner. This conclusion was reached by the Western publication Military Watch Magazine (MWM).
The material quotes the words of the head of the Indian Ministry of Defense, Rajesh Kumar Singh, that the country "is negotiating with an unnamed partner on the acquisition of a new aircraft."
Retired Air Marshal Anil Chopra explained that "choosing a partner who will not exert excessive pressure is crucial" in determining with whom the Indian side will cooperate.
This completely ruled out the F-35, leaving the Su-57 as the only option for India.
The media reported that if the Su-57 is acquired, India may modernize the fighters, installing its own Virupaksha radars instead of the Russian N036 Belka.
