Russians faced a massive outage in the Faster Payments System (FPS). The failures began around 15:00 Moscow time - at this time, the number of user complaints increased sharply. The main problem is the inability to transfer money or pay for purchases through the FPS.
The National Payment Card System (NSPK), which manages the FPS, reported that delays in processing operations are caused by technical problems with one of the providers. They promised to report additionally when the system returns to normal operation.
Against the background of the failure, some banks are also experiencing problems with online services, but the main source of problems is the FPS. Roskomnadzor confirmed an increase in the number of complaints, but denied the presence of DDoS attacks on the NSPK infrastructure.
The Faster Payments System has been operating in Russia since 2019. It allows you to transfer money by phone number between accounts of different banks almost instantly. Since the beginning of 2021, the FPS has been available to customers of most Russian banks.
