«За 15 минут, не вставая с дивана»: благодаря современным технологиям мошенники научились подделывать всё что угодно

Attackers are actively creating exact copies of profiles or hacking real accounts to impersonate victims' acquaintances

Modern technologies allow fraudsters to fake anything. Sometimes, just 15 minutes is enough to create a convincing fake. This was warned by the Department for Combating Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

With the development of technology, the complexity of making a fake is reduced. A fake for cyber fraud can be "assembled" in 15 minutes without getting off the couch. And you can fake everything.

Fraudsters forge passports, IDs, notarized powers of attorney, and official documents to give their actions the appearance of legality. They seek to use authority and create a sense of urgency to achieve their goals.

Attackers often copy profiles (photos, names, posts) or hack real accounts. They pretend to be acquaintances to extort money, links, or personal data. This helps them gain trust and launch a phishing scheme.

Complete copies of the "Gosuslugi" websites, banks, and online stores are created: the addresses are similar to the real ones, and the design and logos are almost identical. The user is convincingly misled, forced to enter logins, passwords, card details, or install malicious software.

Attackers often hide their phone number or IP address, passing them off as official ones (for example, from a bank or housing office), using VoIP or fake digital certificates to create the appearance of legitimacy and reduce the level of trust among users. They convince victims to install a fake "Gosuslugi" application, a bank, or another service containing a Trojan. This gives fraudsters complete control over the device, allowing them to steal data, bank details, and intercept SMS.

Law enforcement officials warned about videos and voice recordings created by artificial intelligence. These fakes imitate a real person — a boss or relative.

Entire fake call centers and support services are created by phone or messenger, which offer to "help". As a result, the victim installs malicious software and transfers access to the device or accounts.

Attackers are actively penetrating the media sphere as well. They create fake news sites that completely copy the design of popular publications. The goal is to spread false information in order to manipulate public opinion or influence the market. To do this, they use automatic Telegram bots and distribute fakes through social networks and messengers.
