Taxi prices in Russia rose to 70%: FAS is checking aggregators

Passengers complain about a sharp rise in the cost of trips, especially in bad weather

In 2025, passengers are recording a significant increase in taxi prices — in some directions, the cost of trips has increased by up to 70% compared to June last year. According to Rosstat, the price per 1 km in Moscow has increased by 30.8% over the year. The Analytical Center under the government estimates the growth for 2024 at 25.2%. This is reported by the Izvestia newspaper.

However, Yandex Taxi does not agree with such estimates: according to their data, the average cost per minute in Moscow and the Moscow region increased by only 16%. The company emphasizes that the cost of trips directly depends on the current balance of supply and demand: weather conditions, traffic jams and the number of available cars strongly affect the final price, including automatic multipliers.

Sources of the newspaper in the corporate fleet of one of the large companies note that any rain, wind or traffic jams instantly affect the cost. Moreover, there are much more force majeure situations than a year ago,

Sources in taxi fleets note that the number of cars on the line and rental drivers is decreasing, and the number of orders per car is growing. This leads to an automatic increase in prices and a decrease in the availability of the service — passengers are increasingly abandoning trips.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has launched an audit of the pricing algorithms of Yandex Taxi and other aggregators, sending requests to 85 regions of Russia. The agency is updating the analysis of the taxi market.
