Russia does not officially disclose data on the number of aircraft in military transport aviation. The "Tekhnosfera Rossiya" publication provided an estimate of the size of the aircraft fleet with reference to foreign sources.
Military transport aircraft of similar types are used for transportation by the Border Troops of the FSB of Russia, Naval Aviation of the Russian Navy, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and the National Guard.
Analysts believe that Russia has at least 130 units of Il-76 of various modifications, including the latest Il-76MD-90A.
Moreover, as is known, there are more Il-76s flying in Russia. But regarding the aircraft of the security forces, foreigners cite figures of 130-150 units.
As for the An-124 "Ruslan", their number was estimated at 25-26 machines. Some of these aircraft are at the disposal of civilian companies, so they were not included in the assessment.
