India is discussing the possibility of purchasing S-500 "Prometheus" anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) from Russia. These systems are significantly superior to the S-400 in terms of technology, versatility and range, which makes them "very relevant to India's needs."
It is assumed that the S-500 will allow India to counter missile and hypersonic threats, protect critical infrastructure and maintain strategic stability.
The S-500 system refers to "strategic defense assets of Russia, and its export requires approval at the highest level of the country's leadership."
At the same time, military experts point out that, given the long-term and trusting successful cooperation between Russia and India in the field of defense, the conclusion of such a deal is not excluded.

The S-500 "Prometheus" SAM system manufactured by Almaz-Antey Air and Space Defense Concern is designed to destroy all existing and future air and space attack weapons of a potential enemy in the entire range of altitudes and speeds.
