India is discussing the possibility of purchasing S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) from Russia. These systems significantly outperform the S-400 in terms of technology, versatility, and range, making them "highly relevant to India's needs."
It is assumed that the S-500 will allow India to counter missile and hypersonic threats, protect critical infrastructure, and maintain strategic stability.
The S-500 system is considered one of Russia's strategic defense assets, and its export requires approval at the highest level of the country's leadership.
At the same time, military experts point out that, given the long-term and trusting successful cooperation between Russia and India in the field of defense, the conclusion of such a deal is not excluded.
S-500 SAM System
The S-500 Prometheus SAM system, manufactured by Almaz-Antey Air and Space Defence Corporation, is designed to engage all existing and future air and space attack weapons of a potential enemy across the entire range of altitudes and speeds.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Yars strategic missile system has gone on combat patrol.
