The research and expedition vessel (R/V) «Akademik Tryoshnikov» (part of the fleet of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute, AARI) returned to St. Petersburg after 8 months of sailing. This was reported by the AARI press service.

«Akademik Tryoshnikov» completed a voyage around Antarctica under the program of the International Antarctic Near-Shore Circumnavigation Expedition. The ship's crew visited Chinese and Indian stations, and then continued research work in the Southern Hemisphere.

The vessel delivered polar explorers and cargo to Russian Antarctic stations, including Russkaya and Bellingshausen. The «Akademik Tryoshnikov»'s stay in St. Petersburg will last just under 2 months, after which it will head to the Arctic.
