The research and expedition vessel (R/V) «Academician Tryoshnikov» (part of the fleet of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute, AARI) returned to St. Petersburg after 8 months of sailing. This was reported by the press service of AARI.
«Academician Tryoshnikov» completed a voyage around Antarctica as part of the International Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition. The ship's crew visited Chinese and Indian stations, and then continued research work in the Southern Hemisphere.
The vessel delivered polar explorers and cargo to Russian Antarctic stations, including Russkaya and Bellingshausen. The stay of «Academician Tryoshnikov» in St. Petersburg will last a little less than 2 months, then it will go to the Arctic.
