The Lada Sport "Avto Finance" rally team has completed the preparation of the new Lada Niva Sport Turbo racing car. The car will take part in the international Silk Way Rally-Marathon. The competition will be held from July 12 to 22, 2025, along the route Irkutsk — Gorno-Altaysk, covering more than 5,000 km of the most difficult tests. This was reported by the AvtoVAZ press service.
The car has undergone changes in design and technical characteristics. Externally, the model stands out with its extended wheel arches and specialized off-road tires.
Under the hood, there is a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 280 hp and a torque of 340 N·m, developed on the basis of the Lada Vesta 1.6T power unit of the "Super-Production" class. The transmission is represented by a new 6-speed sequential gearbox with a lockable center differential.
The chassis design has undergone significant changes: independent suspension on both axles with double shock absorbers, an increased wheelbase — 2550 mm, an extended track — 1680 mm, and an increased ground clearance of up to 350 mm guarantee excellent cross-country ability and stability. The brake system with four pistons and 302 mm diameter discs, as well as swivel knuckles made of forged aluminum, provide reliable braking and high dynamics.
The car is also equipped with a reinforced fuel tank, a racing interior with bucket seats, a safety cage, and a professional navigation system. The development of the Lada Niva Sport Turbo was carried out taking into account the experience of the team's pilots, who have already achieved success in previous stages of the Silk Way.
